both the films, LRM and RDB had the same motive... that was to make people aware of the wrong things happeneing in our society... but the only difference was the vision of the two respective directors and writers...
i think at this stage India needs films like these so people can think where they are taking this country? what is the future of the country?
and when u talk about trend... well I would say, its high time we think of these things... and our young directors are working on real subjects... but to make a lay-man understand they have to use fiction... else the film will become either a documentry film or a news...
Well, as u said u dnt know abt hindi films much, i would like to tell u a little about both the films...
LRM:
Munnabhai, a goon, falls for an RJ's voice (Heroine). he gets so much fascinated that he cheats and wins a Radio contest only to see this girl... and the contest is about Mahatma Gandhi... this guy reaches the Radio station and he falls for the girl... completly... he wants to be with her all the time... so now.. the girl asks him questions about Mahatma Gandhi and he some how manages to answer her correctly... though in a very funny manner... later the girl invites this man to her house to meet his grand father's friends who are all thrown out of their houses... and Munna is supposed to give the lecture on Mahatma Gandhi... he has 1 week's time and he goes to a library to read about Mahatma Gandhi... where he spends all most a week... reading about this great man... Munna gets so much into mahatma gandhi that he can feel and infact see Mahatma Gandhi... Munna then later in the story helps many people through the Radio and asks them to win over others through Gandhigiri...
it is an homage to Mahatma Gandhi... a very nice film...
RDB:
this is sort of a violent film... a story about 5-6 college frnds and a foreigner, who wants to make a documentry film on Bhagat Singh and the gang as she is fascinated by him since her childhood... her grand father was a police man of that era posted in india...
this girl comes to india to make the film, but she has no finance... she meets this gang of frnds and becomes friendly with them... One of these friends is an airforce piolet... the film is all about the documentry film which is in making... and later in the story the piolet frnd dies due to some trouble in his plane while he was flying... this causes shock amongst the other frnds who earleir used to talk about India in a bad way and as they decide to take revenge by killing the minister responsible in this scam... one of them is the father of one frnd... they kill the minister too and then go to the radio station and announce there that they have killed the minister... as they tell the truth about the scam, there is a sense of revolution amongst the people... but sadly, police and army think that they are the terrorist and attack them... and hence they all die...
the story of both these films might sound quiet absurd but the best part is the treatment of both the films...
A MUST WATCH FOR ALL...
JAI HIND...

Contrary to what Hindi movies used to portray in the past, the Indian Film Industry has given movies today what the common Indian man would have never expected. Showing that the youth are passionate for their country and generating interest in the Mahatma and his principles are the excellent feats achieved by Rang De Basanti and Lage Raho Munnabhai respectively.
Rang De Basanti opened a route for non-violent protests across India and showed that people have the power to make some changes for the good while Lage Raho Munnabhai has shown that Gandhi’s principles work even today. Every now and then you hear a story in the paper about how “Gandhigiri” helped someone for who had totally lost hope following routine procedures.
These are pathbreaking films since movies which connect with the society and make an impact were never made in Bollywood. It would only be a pleasure to watch more of such thought provoking movies which would help in the overall awakening and development of India.
