I have seen the movie 6 times now , some of my friends think they made Johnny Depp ( captain Jack Sparrow) Look like he is gay .. Were Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) did not.. Why ?? They are both to be pirates right.. Why did they make them this way? And could they have dune a beeter job on this movie??

Will Turner is the love interest, Jack is just a flakey pirate.
the movie could have been better with some judicious editing (clip 30 minutes from it and make it tighter)

I think Jack Sparrow has to be one of the greatest movie characters of all time! So what if he seems a little gay...actually, a lot of pirates "went both ways" back then. What are you supposed to do when you're stuck on a ship with a bunch of dudes for months at a time I guess?
I don't think anybody could do a better job than Depp as Captain Jack - he's awesome!

I love both pirate movies and I love Jack sparrow and he is NOT gay!! he had a thing for Tia Dalma (voodoo girl) and he has a thing for Elizabeth. I think they did an awesome job on the movie and Johnny Depp does a great job as Jack Sparrow... I can't wait until pirates 3 comes out in May

NO. This is one of the best movies I've ever been. It was completely enthalling.
Will Turner is not yet a pirate therefore it would not be necessary to dress him the same way as Jack Sparrow.
Depp got his inspiration for the role from Keith Richards.

Well jack was a famous pirate who has his own style and looks so in the movie he was supposed to act like this by the commands of his director, and tell your frnds Will was just a blacksmith who makes swords and practices with them only 3 hours a day and Will said this in pirates of Caribbean while he was fighting with Jack.And anyway Jack was a pirate from the beginning but will became 1 in part 2. Don't get confused cos Jack's a hero

Mm mm he seems weirdly drunk all the time to me. He has a thing for Elizabeth ( Kiera Knightly ) in the movie. Its even showed in the first part. He is notoriously known in a brothel area in some town , like when Orlando Bloom goes searching for him, land in this town and asks this certain Prostitute women about him, and they slap him. So i think is isn't Gay!!! But i think he has a way with Women. He behaves the way he does because of being marooned on an island with loads of rum barrels and nothing else to eat n drink.
He was nominated for Golden Globes! No question he has a done a great job! In fact he was wonderful! He fits into any character so well it seems it was tailor made for him, look at the other characters, Edward scissor hands, Sleepy Hollow, to name a few. I admire him, Oscar worthy of an Actor.

Hell no, Johnny Depp didnt look gay, he look hot! first of all, in the 1st one, jack was a pirate to start off with and Will was not, so why would they make them look the same when they are two different people, and really Will is still not a pirate like jack is so they cant make them the same, DUH. Your friends are just stupid and they dont know anything!!! The movie was great!!!! No matter what anybody says!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Johnny Depp said his character was taken from Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. If you know anything about Keith he's the luckiest "junkie" on the planet. Watch Keith Richards and you will see Jack Sparrow.

Johnny made the chracter that way because when pirates were around you weren't quite sure what they were. orlando saw Johnny's performance and just decided to play it straight. I think it makes the movie better

I've seen it several times ~ I love Johnny Depp anyway ~ one thing for certain is that he is not gay ~ hey he did kiss Elizabeth Swann near the end right?
