NO! If their friends didn't warn them that they suck before they went on national TV, then serves them right. They might want to get some honest friends when they get home.

I actually think that the ones being ridiculed know they stink, but are on there to get their 15 minutes of fame (William Heung, anyone?) I think they are hoping they'll seem so bad that they attract attention and can cash in. So, no, I dont feel bad for them. The really bad contestants who come out like banshees after being insulted - dont you think they're more like Jerry Springer characters than honest contestants?

Not usuually. For some they are particularly cruel, but for most it is a probably a much needed reality check. I can't sing ... and I know it. In fact, I think that family and friends have told me so!
I do feel bad that they don't seem to have anyone who cares enough to tell them the truth!
To be honest, it is the only part of the show that I watch. After the real competition starts ... they lose me.

Not at all... I feel bad that they have friends and loved ones who encouraged them to audition. I think that's one of the bigger problems today.... families can be overly supportive because of Psychological studies! You should always praise your child no matter what? I don't think so! If my child or friend was completely tone deaf and wanted to audition, I would let them know it's a bad idea. Not trying to be mean.... just trying to be honest.
As for Simon and the other judges, I think that it is right for them to give as honest of a feedback as they can. If it was the worst audition of the day, they should say so. I don't like that Paula tries to be over encouraging to some people who obviously will have no chance at a music career (lone exception being William Hung.... complete oddity of nature). Simon is doing the right thing by letting them know just how bad they are so that they won't pursue that career and spend too much time, money and effort on it.... just to be burned later. At the same time, perhaps he is encouraged to be meaner than he has to be for the sake of ratings? Just my 2 cents. Thanks. :-D

NO. They are going there expecting criticism..its a big part of being an artist. Its the ones that obviously have mental disabilites and arent capable of understanding I feel bad for. Where are the people who are supposed to be looking out for them??? And that broadcasting station is evil for putting the clips of the disabled breaking down into tears on the air. Thats why I dont watch it.

I have not been able to watch this yet this season due to work but I do have it on tape waiting for me to watch it. I think they can be very harsh and yes I do feel bad for them. If they don't cut it then they could do it in a better manner then what they do. But I do love watching this program very much it's great that people get a chance to show their talent.

No because they know what has happened on previous years and still go for it no matter how untalented they are.
It shows courage to believe in yourself when no one else does so you have to expect a bit of ridicule if you go on TV with no talent.

Sometimes...but honestly, how could you NOT KNOW how bad you are? It's sadder to realize how many delusional people there are walking this planet!
I, for example, could not be paid enough to audition for that show....I am no singer....my talents lie elsewhere, and I'm good with that, lol.
