(The same type of question must have been asked at list 20 times!!!!!).
Correct said that there are two "Macedonias".
The most famous is the authentic one which is in Greece.
Authentic Macedonia is one of the biggest regions of Greece. It is situated in the north part of Greece and it borders 3 Balkan states.
The ancient Macedonia was a Greek kingdom and it was roughly the same size as the modern Greek region of authentic Macedonia. From the Greek state of Macedonia Alexander started his epic campaign of spreading the Greek culture and the Greek civilization all over the known word. His campaign was so successful that for nearly 300 years Greek (Hellenistic) Kingdoms controlled Asia Minor, Middle East, Egypt and even the north part of India.
There is also a state that emerged from Yugoslavia and it is officially recognized by UN and EU as FYROM meaning Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. That country has no relation with ancient (or modern) Greek Macedonia but it is instead a Slavic/Albanian country. {The 2/3 of the population is Slav-Macedonians (of Bulgarian origin) and the 1/3 is Albanian/Macedonians}
During the communist dictatorship of Tito a great propaganda took place in that state. The propaganda tried to “convert” the mixed population to believe that they are linked to the ancient Greek Macedonians and that they need to take real Macedonia back from Greece.
The propaganda has worked on some on the Slavs and some (few fanatics) actually believe that they are true Macedonians and although they speak a Slavic language and they are part of the Slavic culture they actually believe that they are not Slavs!!!!
Of course the government of FYROM (Slavic/Albanian-Macedonia) has clearly stated that they are not linked to Greek Macedonia and Alexander the Great and is still doing a great effort to stop the few fanatics from compromising the stability of the new state.
Also the Slav/Albanian Macedonia is negotiating with Greece (under the UN authority) for an international name that will not insult the Greeks and will not have any claim against Greek Macedonia.
(The name that the country is using for itself is actually "Makedonija" but they are using internationally the Greek name Macedonia and a lot tend to confuse the Slavic/Albanian state with the Greek authentic Macedonia).
{A very interesting documentary was filmed by history channel. It is an excellent documentary and you can have more information about ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia.
“Engineering An Empire: Greece: Age of Alexander
“In 438 BC the Parthenon was completed. This masterpiece is the crowning achievement for the Greek people. Without Alexander the Great, it is possible Greece's Golden Era would have been just a footnote in history. Tens of thousands would die during Alexander's relentless attacks on Persia and Egypt, yet, his armies carried Greek life, culture and values far abroad and this empire became known as the "Hellenistic" world. Greece's amazing engineering achievements and ideas are still with us today.”}

1. Ancient Macedonia covered the area of a part of Fyrom and all the area of the Greek Macedonia. 2. Your argument would mean, in this case, that you accept Greek Macedonia is also Macedonia, so it is quite reasonable to distinguish the two by a geographic term, that you refuse to put in your country's name. 3. Present day inhabitants of Fyrom are Slavs, bulgarians and Albanians, who came to the area at least 1000 years after those artefacts you mention were created. 4. In Asia Minor, modern day Turkey, there are many ancient Greek findings. Does that mean that the Turks are Greeks? I don't think they would agree, because Turks have indeed a national identity and pride. The people of Fyrom are a mix, who was given the fake identity of "Macedonian", in order to avoid splitting and civil war, between Slavs and Albanians, which as we all saw during the elections is a real danger. 5. The same with, for example, Americans: modern Americans are Iatlians, English, Irish, Greek, whatever. They don't claim the culture, inheritance or descendance of preexistent "Indian" populations. 6. I don't mean to insult anybody, but these are real historic facts.

The Republic of Macedonia (Macedonian: Република Македонија / Republika Makedonija, listen (help·info), Albanian: Republika e Maqedonisë), often referred to as Macedonia, is a landlocked country on the Balkan peninsula in southeastern Europe. It is bordered by Serbia to the north, Albania to the west, Greece to the south, and Bulgaria to the east. As the result of a naming dispute with Greece, in 1993 it was admitted to the United Nations under the provisional reference the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

It is the northern part of Greece with capital city Thessaloniki which is co-capital of Greece.Its name is used by an ex-communist state of former Yugoslavia,something that is really unfair.That name is been used in Macedonia of Greece for thousands years but I guess that you already know that from school.

There are 2, the Greek province and the neighbouring part of former Yugoslavia which is just after becoming independent, as far as I know. The Greeks don't like them taking that name, I don't know exactly why, though.
