Are we not being racist in suggesting that because Shilpa is being picked on it must be because of her ethnic origin? Remember last year - Jodie Marsh was relentlessly bullied - no suggestion of racism there. Some people are just bullies!!

I completely agree. I have watched every series of big brother since the very beginning and there is always someone in Shilpa's position, and they are usually first to go. Shabaz was Asian and relentlessly picked on as part of BB7 and again no racism row. I think 2 points are important here:
1 - Shilpa Shettey is a very big star in India and is highly respected and revered as such. Therefore, the asian community in Britain are shocked and dismayed that anyone would treat her in the manner that Jade and the others have done, for whatever reason.
2 - Jade Goody was picked on relentlessly herself in BB3. She was the butt of all the jokes, and they (as we all remember) tricked her into taking her clothes off as part of a strip quiz game that they invented to ensure she would lose. She is now becoming the bully subconsciously to ensure it doesn't happen to her this time around. Ironically I think that people liked her because she was bulied and the underdog, and will dislike her for being the bully this time. She may come out with her 'career' in tatters wheras Shilpa now has a good chance of either winning, or being in the final 3.

The whole big brother scandal is something of nothing & i don't believe that any real racist comments were said on purpose. The only racist comment i heard was the 1 from danielle which she didn't even mean in that way. I think that everyone thinks that everything that is commented about in tabloids, newspapers & magazines is true, even when it is not & things like the true racism that occurs goes by the by. How come when a white person is attacked by people from other cultures nothing is said?

I agree i believe the main issue is bullying .

If you have ever been a victim of bullying I believe Jade Goody has done the best thing ever even though she is ignorant to the fact that she is a bully.
Jade has highlighted the serious nature of bullying and what some children and adults have to live with everyday. Maybe now something more worthwhile will be done about bullying in our schools and workplaces .So we don't have to put up with people like Jade thinking she can get away with it just because she has a big gob.

I think that the more people make out of this, the worse it will become. Jade is obnoxious scummy and horrible and has made her money for being stupid...... Shilpa is condersending sarcastic and thinks she is superior...
Is it not racist for Jermaine Jackson to Call Jade white trash, even if she is.
Incidently I would not eat chicken that was not cooked properly. am I a racist for that......Jade is a Bully.. but I think she is too stupid to know what Racist means

I keep saying that if Shilpa was a chav like the other 3 girls then they would be absolute best buddies with her. That just shows that they are not racist, in fact, just because you are Indian, doesn't mean you can't be bullied and disliked for not being a chav (this is how their minds work, this is not my feeling on the subject). If you are a chav, it doesn't matter what race you are, you will always find friends amongst chavs.

both myself and husband totally agree with you, this is only bullying, we dont feel it was racist, my hubby has red hair and is often called ginger nut, is this racist, i have often been called four eyes, is this racist, this country is going mad, we feel so sorry for jade,it is disgusting what they(what i mean by they is the people of this country and channel 4) are doing to jade, its about time that people of this country decide that racist come in many ethnic origins, we heard on the news about a white boy being hit by a hammer by asians, so it goes by ways, dont you think.(is the goverment doing any thing for this boy and his family(we bet not) white people are to scared to open their mouths these days without being classed as racist, like we said this country has gone mad. you might think by reading this that myself and my hubby are racist(which we are not) but fairs, fair it goes both ways except the police would laugh if we said we had people bing racist to us. we have had to say some thing because we and we`d say a good many people of this country are fed up.

You are right. Being a bully is part of the "normal" human condition. (It is called sin) The "political correctness" thing is about thought control. to have absolute power over the people. I get so amused when people say that America was settled so people could have religious freedom. People came here so they could persecute others. Roger Williams (Rhode Island) and William Penn (Pennsylvania) were the only ones who grasped the concept of tolerance and freedom.

It wouldn't be an issue if Shilpa was the one who said it! Racism is favouritism towards ethnic groups.

What's the point of racism anyway? We're all the same. There's good and bad in all humanity. Why can't people get over that childishness? I'm sure god is sitting somewhere have a great laugh at ALL of us.
