Why do people keep asking "would you vote for a black president?"

Aren't we supposed to choose our president based on issues, character, integrity, leadership and experience?

Will the media and the hard-core left label anyone that speaks out against Obama's agenda as a racist?

For me, ethnic background has absolutely nothing to do with it. As for your question about the media, this is the kind of stuff they thrive on. They try to tell the rest of us what we should think and how we should vote. Stand up and be an individual. Vote for who God directs you to vote for, no matter what your political convictions may be.

There are still a lot of racists in this country. The media made just as bid of a deal over Jesse Jackson's ethnic background when he ran for president. Obama has been the only black person since Jackson that there has been talk of the possibility of running for president Hence all the Hoopla

Those people are afraid of having a "black" president! Yes we are supposed to choose based on issues, character, integrity, leadership and experience but many won't. They will vote for who the media says is popular because some people are like sheep and won'tthi/can't nk for themselves. It's hard to predict what the media & leftists will label opposers to Obama's agenda. I don't know enough about his agenda but I won't vote for him because of his lack of experience and I am a democrat and a pretty liberal one.

Truth, although there are many people in this country for which race is not an issue, there are many, MANYpeople for which race IS an issue (either "positive" or "negative"). And having a serious candidate who could appeal to a broad range of voters who is anything but blue blood WASP is a story -- it's one more racial barrier to overcome.

And I disagree that America is not ready for a black (or half black, or whatever) president. I believe that there are some AMERICANS who are not ready for that, and as such they will simply not vote for any person of color. But I think we're ready as a country now, and all you have to do is read Obama's books and listen to his speeches, and you can come away seriously believing that he could be the one.

Umm the Funny Part is the Black Caucus and Many Black Groups are Over Looking the 100% Blacks Like Powell and Rice and tripping over the 50% White Obama. They No longer Care About Supporting Blacks Just Supporting the Democrat Mantra. They flat out said Powell and Rice are worse than "uncle toms" and are for all practical purposes "white".

Obama will take the black vote away from Hillary.
Obama could be our first black President.
Yes, anyone who speaks out against Obama's agenda will be scrutinized for being a racist.

While we would like to judge a person by his character and not his color, truth is could be impossible to achieve with Obama. Obama is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. It is a racist church which calls itself "Unashmedly Black" and follows the 12 precepts of the Black Value System, including:

1. Pledge alleginance to all Black leadership.
2. Allocate a portion of personal resources for strengthening Black institutions.
3. Adherence to the Black work ethic.
4. Disavowed of the pursuit of middleclassness.

The media will make a racial issue, but it is not. I think he has a lot of potential, but his lack of experience will be hurtle in 08. Maybe 12 or 16 he'll have a better chance.

I don't like him because of his stance on abortion, but I am a 1 issue guy.

i did not learn about that. i'm in basic terms questioning why Obama might want to bypass by ability of a lot problem to income regulation to attempt to develop right into a body shelter. As for the binds to a terrorist, I guess all of us have met evil human beings faster or later. The preacher seems loopy, yet to me he seems more effective intense individuals coverage than of having certainly hatred.

It's only and issue to the media. Most people don't care about his race, they care more about his liberalism.

You are correct, although I do not like Obama, I do believe that our president should be chosen by his qualifications and not the color of his skin, or even his or her sex.
Good thought provoking question.
