The latest version of the program is Google Earth 4.0.2722. Updated maps become available automatically. If you have better maps or aerial photos you can put them in your own copy as a layer on top of GE, but it is a bit tricky to do.

Where I live is shown really fuzzy and low resolution. It's a bit disappointing for that. I do wonder sometimes what is hiding under the fuzz.

the earth is an extremely big place
I think that the most populated areas are updated more frequently I know my neighborhood is about three years old, but New York City is probably about a month old
Google earth is without doubt the most awesome place on the internet, imagine what it will be like ten years from now!

I think it says between one and three years old on the home page. I don't know how to update it, I think you get the most up to date pictures they can show.

At least 3 years old as my house is as it was before i moved in a nd put a shed up. lol.

Just think what the government have if we have access to that level of imagry. scary.

The picture of my house doesn't have my fence there..and it was put up 4 years ago! I'd like to know if there is an up to date one too so I'll be watching your relults!

they must be at least 4 years old coz our old car is parked outside the house and that has been gone that long.

as for free updates i dont think they are available
