First shown that was enough for me , never have i seen such sad morons put before a puplic so that they could tear lumps out of each other for the edification of the viewers, One of the Romans empires favourite shows in the collersium was to drive lunertics and very sick people into the arena , so the crowds could shriek with amusment at there antics, I thought then and i think now they were sicker than the poor people in the arena . My question is this being that children learn life and attitudes from adults and there parents ,and we castigate them when they bully and terrify others. do you think that growing up in an atmosphere were bullying ,dispicable behaviour, open sexual behavior, intimidation ,
racist inuendo, and applauded and encouraged by adults as entertainment. for fame or money is going to enhance them as adults

You've put forward an excellent point! I don't let my daughter watch it,but many kids do-and kids are quite impressionable. They see these people (supposedly 'celebrities) on television (most kids want to be on television at some point) acting in such a manner-and getting such a huge reaction-that they may well think that this is exactly how they need to act to get the desired attention.

While I do agree with your point about how BB is a spetucle sought to ridicule the fools that enter it, I dissagree with your point on an educational theme. People are easily lead in general and will watch it on an entertainment bases. An average person look at this programme but not watch, watching would imply a person is learning from.

My point is anyone with average intelligence would see BB and quite humanly, ridicule, feel for and be entertained buy this picture. Quite the opposite from becoming a conisuer of the programme. The viewer would leave without changing 1 thing about their general train of thought.

Do not underestimate that the media will over emphisize everything that happens and manipulate the public to feel obligated to have an opinion. Truth is humans will always behave like this when faced with too much time on there hands!

I'd like to make a further point on the rasicm issue. Do you believe for an instant that Jade is a rasict? Would she spit on, hit, insult any one who is not like her? No, I doubt it! Some people just annoy others, and it's an added bonus for onlookers if the victims are different as its easier to dismiss - problem solved.

No, i don't think it is going to enhance them as adults.

As mentioned in another answer, i've never seen or heard of big brother until this week. Yahoo answers and radio 2 news is the first, ond only, times i've come across.

Never actually seen the program, but i can't imagine a camera looking at some idiot in a house is going to teach me anything i can't learn in a more effecive way by interacting with people.

If seems to me people love to hate it. If so many people are critical of it why do they watch. Are they all sheep ?

"Big Brother and the Holding Company"...fronted by the late great Janis Joplin. that's the only one I know of and revere! Too bad you couldn't see the entire concert, but a few minutes is better than zip...

Exactly, if we are to lead by example, what the hell are they learning from this. Even if parents do not allow their children to watch it, it is on the news and in the papers etc.
