I don't have a good site. This is almost history rather than law. I may have learned it in a Corrections class, however, so a Corrections textbook would probably have it on the first page.There are 3 aims: rehabilitation; punishment; and deterrence. Deterrence means preventing the individual from committing future crimes while protection the public.
