the APPARENT "rise of sun" is due to earth's eastward rotation...

The sun always rises FROM the east, it rises IN the east (where the east being the immidate left hand side of the International Date Line on a conventional Globe) at GMT time T-12, where T is the time of sun rise at the International Date Line in the 24 hour format.

sun rises exactly at the east during the middle of a year.this is because as pongal festival comes he wil be in east-south direction(say) then by the time the same festival comes next year he rise in the east-north direction. during this one year he changes his direction from one corner to the other i.e to say from east-south to east-north
