I don't understand. People on here are always saying to mething negative about dark skinned Black women. And when people say that Black women are attractive they give examples of light skinne d Black women like Halle Berry, Beyonce. Ugh, I'm just tired of the ignorant guys at school dissing dark skinned girls too. They would say dumb stuff like "I only like light-skinned girls" or "light-skinnned girls are prettier" And I've seen some guys turn down the prettiest and nicest dark skinned girls for ugly, stupid, and fat light skinned girls.

Maybe it’s a personality thing for them I don’t know. Maybe they stero-type black women. That’s one of the things I mean though when I say ''people still have slave mentality'' slavery messed people’s minds up more than you would believe. It was instilled in peoples minds that ''black is less'' although it’s sad and false. That idea stuck and it stuck like glue! People don’t even realize how they have been brainwashed. Allot of men don’t know what ''beauty'' even means now days anyway so ignore them! If another guy tells you he only likes a certain kind of girl of a race that is not yours, remember its his loss. I am biracial but I went to school with this one girl who was VERY dark and she was the prettiest person I've ever seen in my whole life. Prettier than all of the most gorgeous celebrities you could think of. She is BEAUTIFUL. Seriously, the best looking person Iv'e ever seen and she’s Nigerian. All girls would KILL for her looks no matter what race they are. So I don’t think a certain race is prettier than the other. She is proof of that! No biracial, Asian, Mexican etc, girl could top her looks. Anyway I cant really answer your question with too much more beyond what I said about slavery but maybe men are attracted to us because our race is different since we came from TWO minority races with such huge contrast between them. Were the gray in between? Lol I don’t know…

P.s. I too have had experiences like LadyB. And allot of the black girls who cause problems with me, use ''just because'' as their excuse for not liking me. She's right. We do have it hard. I dealt with it growing up and I deal with it now. You'd be surprised...

BTW - - Ignore the person above me. Being black isnt the problem and does not by any means AT ALL, mean you are ugly the problem is actually people like that!

Hopefully this will cheer you up, when I was younger and a bit lighter than most of my peers and long flowing hair -- i got beat up all the time, once a girl walked over to my porch and just slapped me so hard a fell over the railing, she said she just felt like it, cause I looked too happy.

My point is although from your view you think it's better or easier on a sister if she's light -- not all together true--we don't really fit in anywhere.

Blacks don't really accept you because they think you are too close to white or they immediately assume that you think you are better than they are.

And well I'm sure you realize how many whites don't readily accept blacks, and those types don't accept light skinned blacks any more than a dark skinned black.

So in some ways you are lucky at the very least you have your own people, if nothing else.

Best wishes.

I guess it's a mix of personal taste, shallowness, narrow-mindedness and prejudice. It's normal to find some people more attractive than others, but when it comes to dissing or looking down on people for their looks it's nothing but prejudice and ignorance and I think it's silly and narrow-minded to decide to only date people who look a particular way. I don't understand why looks are so damn important to some people that they are not willing to give anyone a chance unless they fill all the standards they set about their looks. I think it's immature. I personally give people a chance and look at their personality more than their looks.

By the way, I have seen plenty of beautiful dark-skinned black women and men. And if it makes you feel any better, you're not the only group being "filtered out" by looks by some people. I've heard a lot of people say they would never date a blonde or a brunette or a man below a certain height or a woman above a certain height etc. It looks like it's not just about skin-tone but also hair color, height and other things like that that are out of our control and don't really say a thing about who we are as a person. I guess some shallow people care about personality the least of all features. To be honest I don't care because I wouldn't want to be with someone like that anyway. I want to be liked for who I am, not for what I am.

It is a long complicated story. Europeans instilled this in people, during the time of slavery in America, a whole field of science was founded to prove that the darker your skin was the more inferior you were. Much like the Nazi scientists came to the conclusion that jews were not human by studying their skulls. All unwarranted and BS propaganda, made to make those exploiting the dark-skinned feel justified. Residual effects of this are still here today. A lot of people don't know that mapping the human genome has proven this wrong and that the genes that control skin color have nothing to do with any other genes controlling intelligence or personality. Our differences are in our heads, any differences we see are caused because of social problems and inequality. They still have this superiority complex.

If it makes you feel better, by you having dark skin know that you don't have to wait to find out that a person you spent time with and thought was decent turned out to be a racist ***. Your skin does the work for you!

Aah madame, but why would you like to go after people who dislike the black people? Black is beautiful for some, less beautiful for others. You would not want to go after the person who turned you down, however beautiful you may be. The person who really appreciates the beauty of yours is a true fan, and he is the one to make friends with. Down with the others.

Speaking only for myself, and having answered essentially the same question on here several times before (see below), I think dark skin on a woman is beautiful and exotic, and the darker it is, the more so.

::EDIT:: How could anyone ever say this woman is ugly?

Have you actually heard this or is it from observation? It has to do with preference really, some guys like fat girls no matter what color they are, some guys like skinny some like dark some like light. and maybe that male thought that the ugly fat girl was pretty? its all in personal preference, you should not take it personally if someone does not like the way you look, do you like every guy you see? proly not! and they might think that its cuz they are too dark or too light, too skinny or too fat!

well, everyone has his own taste, but this has nothing to do with love nor intelligence :-) all I can tell you is to let them speak without worrying. Of course some prefer dark skinned black!!! I've always found grace jones incredibly beautiful!!! You certainly don't want to make out with this kind of guy who precise they prefer light skinned, so don't worry, you'll find the good one!

I don't think I have ever seen an ugly dark-skinned black woman. I sometimes see women so dark skinned that they are almost purple and they are just soooo beautiful! As for Halle and Co I affectionatley call them cappacinos - they are neither black or white. Either way beauty is only skin deep.
