I am trying to connect my Dell laptop to the wireless D-Link Router used throughout our home. The network is 64-bit encrypted and I have the full WEP Key and SSID. When I input all the required information into the Linksys Profile Information, it still will not connect to the net. I receive the following message on the "Link Information" page: "You are connected to the access point, but the Internet cannot be found." However, I can connect just fine using my brothers laptop which has internal Wi-Fi that was configure to the same router, so I know the router is working correctly.
If my computer is connecting the router, then why wont is access the net?

I just bought the adapter today...totally new. IP address is correct. It says I am connected to the "access point" which I assume refers to the D-Link router, but it will not connect to the internet. Is there a problem with the router being D-Link and my adapter card being Linksys (there shouldnt be...)?

Sounds like an AUTHENTICATION problem. You might need to load information onto the computer about your DSL/Cable Account. Ask your service provider help line and see if your brother has a CD with the program on it.

I assume you are not getting an IP from it. Can anybody else connect to your router? Have you tried a wired connection to log into it and check to see if it is seeing the internet? You may want to reset the router with the little button in the back. Hold it down for 8-10 seconds to set it back to defaults.

i suspect a firewall issue on your lapto.

1. do an ipconfig and confirm ur AP is allocating IP
2. if it is try and ping the IP address

we need to establish that your laptop actually tlks 2 the AP.
if it does, try and disable wep on the AP to see if ur system wuld also work wtht WEP then if it does, u might have to check that your WEP settings on the laptop are correct or u mistyped it. hope this helps.
