What you need PCMCIA souncard...as this will give you high-end quality sound as in a desktop...(make sure you have a PCMCIA slot on your notebook)

Creative and a few other companies provide external "sound cards" which plug into a spare USB port. This would provide all the latest technologies like hardware acceleration, EAX etc with excellent sound quality. They are not cheap however.
