Frequently in the media women are depicted as sexually attractive and men are depicted as desiring those sexually attractive women. One result is that it is virtually always men, and not women, who are seen as having sexual desires.Women are represented as the objects of sexual attention and men are represented as the sexual actors. When women are depicted as having desires, they are usually shown as wanting to be a sexual object.
In order to be persuasive, advertisements frequently couple a product with an abstract quality or feeling. The goal is to create the message that if you use this product you will find romance, become sexually attractive, achieve happiness, etc. These messages frequently are about sexuality, love, and relationships.
What are your opinions on this? How do you feel? Please voice your opinion.

Ads are designed to make you feel like you are missing something. These are just in line with the other advertisements telling men they need women and the scores of ads telling women they aren't up to standard. We buy into this because our culture has a lot of broken relationships and marriages. A large number of people feel empty in this way. Sex and intimacy is a basic human need, so they are an easy target. Also keep in mind that women tend to blame themselves while men tend to blame external forces, which makes it an easy recipe for the objectification of true female sexuality.

This is so true, most advertisers are soo afraid of sticking their nose out. They use stereotypical models of people, and infest these in the people consuming the ads. It really sucks, I do not fall for it, it makes me angry.
Men and women are as sexual as each other, both men and women wants it, craves it.
It isn't at all true that men prefer sex and women love/feelings, this is just one of the stereotypes that the media infests in people.

The bottom line is that-sex sells. Not to be arrogant, but,if they were to put normal ordinary people in ads then it wouldn't spark much interest to potential customers. If they were to use fat ugly slobs-it would give their products a bad name, outside of the humor elements that it might offer.I think that most things in society today are aimed at mass appeal, but, many people feel that it would be more appealing if it more closely resembled reality.Everyone doesn't look like a model or movie star, etc.

tell me how offten on compas you see girls with skirts too high and shirt too small. little school girls know you get more when you cover less. and yes men are play toys and i've seen many used. yes if you want to be powerful in the media realm you need to show skin or obsorbent talent in a competive trade.
yeah item could be horable but if the woman looks good men will buy. i dont feel like spell checking so yeah.

Men like sex. Women want love. Being sexy gets you a man and "love". Advertisers are only taking advantage of what is the truth. If these things weren't true then the advertisements would fail and they would use a different technique. Since these techniques do work then it can only be inferred that these ideas are true and women are sexual objects.

nicely, from one womans opinion, i do not view adult men as that. i recognize some females do, yet a relationship is a million circumstances more desirable major to me. If i might want to influence commercialism, i imagine i'd make it equivalent. there is more desirable about womens cloth then mens on the instantaneous. a lot love xx [:

I believe it is wrong for women to be portrayed in this way. Relationships are about equality and anything sexual should be reserved for after marriage. If people were more marriage-oriented and less interested in casual sex, perhaps women would be portrayed in a more just way.

its cause women are soo sexy when they get down and start dancing and wear some small clothes and stuff. women do these things to their selves. in order for women to feel attractive they wear revealing clothes. they didnt before cause men didnt allow it cause they didnt want their sisters and wives to appear in that fashion in public, but women started desinging clothes and all decentsy went to hell. so when you try to say men are making women into sexual actors its women who are acting. remember the women on tv arent being forced to do this. and look around you too. look at yourself when you wear tight or revealing cloths youre putting sex out there to attract a man. or not? think about it, you think the only way to attract men is by using sex.

yes women are viewed as sexual objects, they put themselves threr for the viewing on display in front of the world in next to nothing screaming look at me please please lookat me, in turn men do look and look, hencefourth making women feel as if they are gods gift to the universe, hencefourth vanity, egos and swolen heads, and why on earth does it take a naked woman to sell a cheeseburger??does the man feel he will get that woman because he eats that, when actually thats opposite , man eats cheeseburger gains weight and woman runs from man, finds mans brother thats in the gym, man should not eat cheeseburger
