How could any of you think that aquired traits were passed on through genetics until they became a "higher life form"? The theory of evolution is compleately un-scientific. Read Genesis 1:1!!!

What you are implying is only a umbrella-hypothesis, a comfortable way to explain the world. There are a few theories about how life could have emerged. None have been widely accepted by the scientific community yet. But it doesn't mean that the unexplainable is simply due to the goodwill of some kind of higher being, be it god or whatever. It just does mean that we don't know for sure yet.

Life originated from countless spontaneous chemical reactions in Earth's primordial soup. Any random collection of atoms in an environment constantly being pumped full of energy (from sunlight) will react. Some molecules created by random chance will be catalysts that will in turn cause other molecules to be built. Some of these will in turn be catalysts for further reactions, and so on and so forth. Eventually, you will find spheres of lipid molecules which form spontaneously due to the structure of the lipid molecule and its reaction with water; inside these spheres other molecules will be concentrated and increase their reaction rate. Eventually, these turn into primitive living cells.

The analogy of finding a watch sitting in the desert is totally dissimilar. It's more like finding a watch in a bin of watch parts the size of the Solar System that is shaken for a billion years -- the odds of that happening are very great indeed, especially if (stretching the analogy a bit to make it resemble autocatalytic reactions) assembled watch parts tend to create more assembled parts, as is the case with the molecules of life.

The Earth is NOT and has NEVER been a closed system. The Sun provides mind-boggling amounts of energy, which is exactly what is required to take a system at a state of high entropy (the random assortment of atoms on primordial Earth) into a state of low entropy (a living being).

You need to run a search on abiogenesis. Basically, scientists have done tests with organic residue and subjected it to UV light and electricity and complex organic compounds appear quite spontaneously - they have been able to make viruses from off the shelf chemicals.

Incidentally if anyone is going to answer and say God made life please keep in mind that if we were made from dust or clay as it says in the holy books we would be Silicon based life forms, whereas in reality we are Carbon based.

*The nitwit 'nitin' mentioned the old tornado spontaneously building a 747 plane is labouring under the misapprehension - wilfully spread by creationists that evolution is a theory about random chance - it most certainly is not. The amusing thing to consider is that God himself is the ultimate randomly assembled 747!*

I do believe in god but I agree with scientific findings that propose life started from chemical reactions as stated by others answering here. But who is to say god did not start in the same way? or even evolved? See the bible was written by humans and it states that no human can be perfect so the bible is subject to human errors such as mis translations, grammatical errors, etc.. etc.. also who knows what has been lost in the numerous revesions and re-writing of bible

when earth originated before 4600 years, it was a super hot, whirling mass of dust particles.the major share was composed by hydrogen. oxygen was not present in free state. hydrogen combined with oxygen and formed steam.
nitrogen, hydrogen, gases of carbon and steam encircled the earth and these formed the atmosphere at that time.gradually this atmosphere began to cool itself. due to this cooling steam condensed and hence the first rain came.
after continuous chemical changes in the water, nitrogen bases were formed from inorganic substances.the nitrogen bases combined with other elements and nucleotides were formed.these nucleotides joined together to form nucleotides. the non living substances in the earths atmosphere, like methane, water vapour and nitrogen combined to produce amino acids.this is the first life molecule of earth

I dont have any idea. But I'm not willing to believe something just for piece of mind. I dont believe in God because I dont believe in God, not because I have another version of whats going on.

everybody has there own version and there own beliefs , i dont belive in the concept of god, neither do i belive in the theories of darwin ,which states that life started on its own from bacteria to organism to all the life thats there on the planet now ..its like a tornedo going through junkyard and assembing a 747 in the process ...this is simply not possible...for the moment i think this much is enough for your question
