Anymore, whenever ANYONE tries to pull the "race card" stunt, those who have any intelligence at all ignore it. By now, it is a very lame tactic. I was born and raised during the 60's in a highly affluent section. We are white. We had 2 women who were black, GORGEOUS, lovely and hired by my mother to help with the household and her babies. They used to bring their kids sometimes to work with them and my sister and I would play with them after school outside and we had such a great time!! The rest of the snooty neighborhood resented this and made no secret of it. My parents ignored them all.I am now 52 years old, and very proud of the fact that I never knew one ounce of prejudice in my upbringing. My parents admired people of ALL cultures and races (I am almost going to cry as I type this) and we were instilled with the same social values- my parents also eschewed the stupid snotty values of the rest of the Country Club community. What my point is is that I never experienced bigotry or prejudice until these later adult years of mine. I am at a loss as to how to deal with it, too. My best friend today is a beautiful Africanamerican woman who has done more for me as far as friendship goes than any white women I have ever known. All this should be about people and their values, NOT races/cultures. Respect and courtesy for one another would get us all a lot further.

we are all the same love and i feel the same as you on this.
The only reason it is seen as racism is because this is England.
The way we explain is taken in the wrong manner, as black people who may be a British as you and i are seen as people from outside this country, and the same for Indians as the first point of thought is Pakistan (sorry if spelt wrong) so when explaining people will say "Park's" and that these days can be taken as an offence. It is really silly, and if people seen it more from our point of view, that at the end of the day, we all p!SS out the same hole, things would be easier, and indeed there would be alot less violence.
But very good comment!! x

Just look at the debacle at Duke and what that University did to their own students and Lacrosse team!!
Those boys are and always were innocent so out the window was tossed the concept of Presumption of Innocence until proven guilty".
They cow-towed to the Blacks and the white Duke Professors stood by and soiled heir pants!
You've had enough, then don't vote Democrat !!!

It's all to do with history.. I think the past should be forgotten and everyone should get on with their lives - no, people shouldn't play the race card uneccesarily but racism happens. I think a lot of the time now, when people complain something is racist they're accused of using the race card even if it is something serious.. bit of a vicious cycle! But if you encounter something you find to be offensive then say so - colour shouldn't be an issue!

Next time the white boy behind the counter at the gas station or the white girl behind the counter at walmart, looks me in my face, doesn't greet me, and walks away to talk to their coworker about nothing -- I will remember that it had nothing to do with my race, and they are not racist and I am not experiencing racism - but I am merely in the presence of a hateful ignorant bigot -- who has the unmitigated gall to attempt an assertion of superiority while bagging my purchase.
Geez some of you people are far more hateful and treacherous than I gave you credit for being.
I pray that there is a sucha word as "redemption."

well historically speaking they do have a reason to have that card, although, you have it as well... being white or being with its a race matter, can use it on both sides..by already having nothing and be making a difference its already racism.. dont you think?

We do have that card, it's just more ignored and appear to be a little more tolerant.
The amount of times I have been called rascist for things as simple as asking somebody to move from blocking a doorway.

Yeah..... that card does get dealt quite often. Even though most times it is because the offended person has not got the brains to have an ordinary argument.
