Funnily enough I was in one today. They are a good resource for people to go to and talk about their issues and get help and assistance. I think they provide a break from the everyday stresses and allow time away in what appears to be a reasonably relaxed environment. The staff seem particularly dedicated and are keen to provide a good support network to help people recover. Similar to the rest of the NHS they could probably do with more funds, but they do an admirable job with the resources available to them

Psychiatric hospitals are a great place for someone to stay while they get the proper help they need.

I had to be in one about 20 years ago. My couch was also my bed. How gross!!! They were mean to some people. I was a master mind. We played games, watched tv, cooked popcorn, etc like everybody else. We had to go to some special classes also. We left the hospital and went joy riding, shopping, bowling etc on Wednesday nights. My family came whenever they was allowed.

I used to have a view of one from my brothers bedroom window when I was young. Then they shut it down and all within went free........
