Sentencing was put back for reports but the new date has come and gone and there is no report in the local news.

You have to have a legitimate reason for enquiring for the court to assist you in this way. Presumably you have, in which case you may telephone the listing office of the court and ask whether the defendant has been further remanded and, if so, to what date. Sometimes sentence is not passed on the adjourned date: reports may not be ready or perhaps there is a problem with the bench, as ideally the bench which convicted the defendant should be present to sentence him, or at least one representative of that bench.

I notice that somebody suggested that you apply for a memorandum of conviction, but these are usually provided only to people who write in and show that they have a bona fide interest in knowing, as opposed to mere curiosity.

It's a public record, so you could go to the Court and Lock at the file. Most states have it on line at a site like newjerseystatejudiciary.com (google STATE (not fed'l) court website and see what it's called in your state.) For about $25 dollars, you could hire a process server to go to the Court and look for you if the Court is far away. Now that you know its public information, you just need a way to see the document.

If you are an interested party you can contact the court who may be able to release the documents / decision to you. You could also try contacting the counsel who were involved in the case.
