My friend´s computer has a "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" Operating System, and she has a couple of older broswers and stuff, so i tried to download Internet Explorer 7, but for some reason i couldnt get any where..the pages just kept going in circles, like from the page that said "download internet explorer 7" here to another page where they give you like a bunch of names of broswers to choose from.

So i left that for a bit and then tried downloading Firefox 2.0 instead, which worked, and i even installed it, and re-booted. But, when i tried to open the new firefox broswer, i just got the "this page cannot be found" error messege.

Im completely lost....does anyone have any idea why the broswers arent working?

I´d really appreciate any help you could give me. Thank you in advance for your answer. :)

Page not found means that firefox isn't your default browser, or you didn't set the network settings in Preferences, but in any case what you are getting is a message that you aren't connected to the net.
Go for the Preferences and Settings first, then check your connection if that doesn't work. I assume you are on your own computer right now, as his browser isn't working.

Another thing is that Explorer is more than internet, it is also your basic way of navigating around your own computer, Windows Explorer. It is integrated... into... the ... root... c: drive...

and thus a magnet for any freak who wants to gain access your computer for whatever personal reasons.

If the internet settings are correct in Firefox and you still aren't connected, try checking it in Explorer. Mozilla, the company you got Firefox from, has a help page and if you can access that you are almost home.

Of course, you could open the Troubleshooter from windows, go through all the stuff and not get connected, then get that message which always makes me curse (when trying to solve a connection problem) "Go to www.yourescrewed and access our online help"

I see. Acctually, I'm sure you know that some parts of Asia have trouble connecting to internet cause of some underwated damge to fibre cables, blah, blah, blah. That could be the reason why are you getting the "page cannot be found" error. Anyway, why not you give this browser a try. It's called Avant Browser and I'm using it too. Here is the link.. http://www.download.com/Avant-Browser/3000-2356_4-10622942.html?tag=lst-0-1
