Desktops cost less, cost less to expand, cost less to repair, don't break as easily, don't get stolen as easily, can be expanded to a much greater extent, can have much more drive space, much larger screen, can have many more and difference devices attached. Desktops use very few non-standard parts, so you are not LOCKED INTO one vendor. For desktops, I have no preference in brand.... it's all about the MONEY.
Laptops can be much smaller, lighter and much more portable. It can run without power. There are even models that have a re-charge crank, so you can just recharge the battery WITHOUT plugging it in. For laptops, I prefer Toshiba, but have respect for Compaq and HP. I hate Dell and Sony laptops. I don't trust their EXPLODING batteries.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

If you travel and like to take your office with you, a laptop is supreme. However, when one component breaks (screen, keyboard, etc.) the whole thing is trashed. A desktop is cheaper and more modular to replace components. I have even upgraded motherboards and saved a bundle on a desktop

Laptop is like a mini sterio player and the desktop is like a big music system. So decide what you want based on your need.

desktops are best with the exception that they are costly,,and have too much of components...
and laptops are best suited for ur convinience..u can take them anywhere..but with one exception that if thay get some problem its really costly to get then again fine...
