From Bombay Central to Andheri East the Taxi would charge you Rs.600/-

it's around 17 km at least.. so taking Rs. 14 per unit in the meter, for 1.6 km we get 17 * 14 / 1.6, or atleast Rs. 150. However, Andheri East is one of the largest localities in Mumbai and therefore your fare could vary depending on which place in Andheri east you live in. If you are foreign to Mumbai, be wary of the taxi-drivers, ensure that the meter starts from 1.00

A cheaper alternative would be to try an Andheri Local train which would cost around Rs 8. The crowd in the Andheri Local should be significantly lesser as Andheri is the last stop.

From Bombay Central to Andheri (E) go via the Sat-rasta road and come out via Dharavi on to Bandra Kurla - Kalanagar road and then take the highway, normal time should be around 170 to 180 but during peak time like around evenings it will be anywhere around 180-200. From Bombay Central to Malad the fare is Rs.330 approx so imagine. There is another option if you are travelling with little luggage then you can stop at Bandra and take a rickshaw as the fare will be cheaper by atleast 30%

You will get a Taxi meter card from Bombay Central station itself,
for 5 or 10 Rupees, just buy one and keep it'll be vary Handy.
That way he cannot overcharge you. If you have luggage it'll cost
extra. And if you don't have luggage, then just catch a train from BC to Andheri, that's how real Mumbaikars travel !!
It'll be much faster and way cheaper.

I think it would be better for you to take a taxi from bombay central to mahalaxmi station and then take a train to andheri east. It will probably be faster/cheaper.
