One phrase comes to mind- Misery loves company.
People who bully other people are not satisfied with their own lives. In order to get some sort of self-satisfaction, they think other people who seem happy, adjusted and friendly to all should pay for his/her own unhappiness. Be wary of such people.

Bullies tend to have a very low self esteem-so by bullying and belittling others,they get a sense of empowerment.

Bullies are cowards who use the act of bullying to justify their fear. People do it for this reason. It sucks and is devastating to the poor reciever of the taunts. Talk to someone if it is an issue for you......

because their jelous!!!
its always the tramps that scrounge off dole and think they rule the world that bully the innocent as they are jelous that they dont have as much as the victim. these bullys are full of hate and have a issues that they need to sort out than taking it out on someone they wish they could be

Younger bullies are usually people with low self asteem or there parents show no love for them, people who continue to bully into adult life are usually in jobs involving authority. policeman etc...

it can be many things and some relate to there own childhood and upbringing. there parents did it, so they do it. or they get bullied by there parents so they think its the right way to react and bully people they feel are below them or weeker then themselves in the scheme of things.
