India is still a backward society in many respects. Arranged marriages etc. That is the way it has been done for hundreds if not thousands of years. Tradition is hard to over come.

So far as India is concerned wife is considered to be the sole property of her husband. In that sense "adultery" is considered as an offence committed by the male partner against the husband of female partner. If you look at the case from this perspective, in case of theft - a person who commits theft is punishable but not the property which is the subject of theft. Female counterpart in the offence of 'adultery' is given the status of property and hence no punishment stipulated.

From the other perspective also - a wife who commits adultery is already having a punishment by way option of divorce to her husband. For an Indian women divorce from her husband is as good as capital punishment. No provision of Indian Law recommends duel punishments for a single offence. That's why there is no separate punishment for women counterpart in the offence of 'adultery'.

Inspite of tall claims of its conservatism and good ideals the society provide enough scope for NARPISHACHs to exploit women in whatever conditions she lives. The ghatia mentalities misuse the ghatia platfarms of higher orders either on this or that pretext and donot hesitate to call her characterless to seek undue access. Pysical weakness, unfavourable biological get up, poor and physically/numeracally weaker male relatives, minority or lower social status etc. etc. are enough to question the character of a woman. The terror stricken person tends to lose control over the situation and is often forced to flow in the direction of the winds. The generator of winds is infact responsible for unwanted ocurrences. Otherwise the so called superior rank is just rancid and toxic gas emitting plant with shining outward paint whereas the outwardly ugly looking people have no inward impurities.

In many countries the man gets no punisment and the woman is stoned to death or burned alive by her family. How could such atrocities be tolerated? If the man and the woman have equal rights under the law, the punishment should be equal. If the man has more rights, he should recieve harsher punishment.

"With freedom comes responsability."

In many countries, men can have multiple wives, even concubines and it is acceptable. But if a woman has sex with someone other than her husband she is considered a ***** and in some cases put to death. In this country (USA) if a man has sex with many women he is a stud. If a woman has sex with many men, she is a ****. I'm not saying I disagree with you, both parties are guilty. But women have always been deemed sluts or whores where it is seemingly acceptable for men. I have heard many men who have cheated on their wives say that its genetic for males to have sex with as many females as possible to carry on the gene pool. Give me a break!!!
