Generally referred to as American Football or Gridiron.

You're probably confused because soccer isn't American to begin with. The British invented soccer, which they, and everyone else in the world except the U.S., call football. The football they play in the Super Bowl is known as American Football in the rest of the world. Football is called soccer in the U.S. so they don't confuse it with American Football.

I don't know which football came first, though I think it's the British kind, but since the British football is more widely loved and played in the world it has the distinction of not having a qualifier attached to its name.

We call Football what you call Soccer. The game you call Football, we call American Football....... but we dont have much American Football in the UK because we think that all the padding and those Spandex leggings are a bit sissy.
