I understand that if i want plates and insurance i will require a licence.

But i just want to transfer the ownership in my name, Ill get my licence this summer, then get plates and insurance.

That should not be a problem. The license gives you the right to OPERATE it on the road. You don't need a license to push it into your garage.

California: you will need either a class M1 license, or a class M1 endorsement on your car license. Go to the DMV, take the written test, get your learners' permit. Look up the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course in your state, take the course. Practice with your motorcycle. Go back to the DMV. They may ask you to ride your motorcycle around some lines and dots in the parking lot. That's about it.

u do not need license to transfer bike into your name but u will need it to get insurance insurance company will want to know how long u have been licensed to rate u
