If racist and racism are ignored, will they go away?

Completely ignoring racism will not work to eliminate it.

Maybe it's a bad example, but the US ignored the world during WW2, then Pearl Harbor was attacked.

My point.

Sure, ignoring something can make some things seem like they will eventually go away. But the basic origin of racism would not exist if and only if, that party, race, ethnicity, nationality, etc were the only one that existed.

Hence.

Though we can pretend it's not occuring, eventually those parties will find a way or get to the point where it will inherently effect you as well simply because you are different from them.

A necessary evil? I wouldn't call it that either, it just exists and that sucks.

Racism is an evil which shoiuld not be ignored to go away. IT does not make sense to confront some crazy guy who hates for no reason, but like Dr.King did, you confront it in other ways. Violece does not help always and their are other means to confront it. Sometimes you turn the other cheek, but never believe that all racism should be ignored as it must be dealt with. Some time it is by shouwig we are a better person than the bigot. Sometimes it is the help we provide others. We need to set an example for others to follow so ignormat people hopefully will see the light.

How can a person IGNORE being locked outside of a business while others of the opposite yet same race are allowed to remain indoors? How can a person IGNORE being passed over for a job although they were more qualified, because of their skin color? Racism cannot be ignored. RACISTS WILL not be ignored because they continue to make themselves known and continue to use hateful words to try and demean the particular race that they are afraid of. It is their vice to feel that they are accomplishing something therefore it won't stop.

In reply to another post. This proves that YOU ARE RACIST. Racism is not confined to a dislike of black or asian people. You have proven that you have a prejudice of European people, and you are therefore racist! So maybe you can answer your own question?

Would you find it acceptable if someone wrote "Black people are arrogant"..... is it therefore OK to write that about European people? Do you believe that only certain people should be protected from racism then?

No, that would just be like fighting ignorance with ignorance. We ignore it, they fight harder for us to notice them, or even worse, assume it's ok since no one says anything. Racism will most likely be around until we are either all dead, or all the same (in which case people will just find more creative ways to discriminate). But it can be improved, and education, debate and discussion are the best means to accomplish this.

No it will not. If racists and racism are ignored, the extremists who go out and kill people based on race already will only get worse. It is like a bank robber. A bank robber will try and murder someone if that person ignores the threats.
