I have read a few, but I wondered what people thought was his best.

I read Cowgirls, Jitterbug, and Woodpecker about 20 years ago. I liked them all, but loved Even Cowgirls Get the Blues! I'd never seen anyone with a wilder, funnier, bawdier imagination and a more original use of figurative language. I haven't thought about Robbins for a while; thanks for making me recall him.

While I have only "read" a few, I think I enjoyed "Village Incognito" the best. The reason I say "read" is that I actually listened to them on tape. With Robbins style and vocabulary, I'm not sure if I'd enjoy the books as much if I actually read them. I'm always searching for more of his stuff on tape at the library but we've got a pretty slim selection.
