Starlet...it could be that the fact that Shilpa made her money through hard work - can imagine why the rest in the room decided to turn on her...us Brits do not like those sort of people, with envy being one of our favourite pastimes. If she has returned the serve with 'patronisation' why not? Could be also her standing up for herself has also riled us.

As Thursday disappears, I realise anything that rides close to the truth stings - making some Brits become personal, immature and insecure (thank you for those who sharpened the point of my argument). Can only thank Mother Mary I was born mixed-race...otherwise would not have entered such a question.
Some of the more racist were happy to throw cans of petrol into 'Paki' shops in the seventies and eighties - scream at Asian women and go around in gangs beating up Asian/Indian boys...with the law not too eager to intervene...
...betya now the same people (20 years later) are not left alone by the law now - and if they're lucky, have some police drip-drip claims to the worst sort of right-wing press...knowing it'll be in the front pages the next day, and last but not least - a couple may even get shot by Shoot-em-all PC 69 after a 'well-meaning' member of public tells police of Mad Muhammad who never leaves the local Mosque.

We all wish the people around us would treat us better, if we don't get what we want, we don't blame on ourselves, we find an excuse. If your white you think it might be your appearence or attitude. If your of foreign extraction you could turn round and say that person dosn't like me because I'm coloured. This could be true or maybe their having a bad day or arn't feeling friendly. They will treat a white "stranger" exactly the same 90% of the time.

Are you aware of the looks I get every day because I have a skin head? Are you aware of the jibes I get when I go to other areas of the country because of my scottish accent? Are you aware of the amount of people that get a tough time through life because they have downs syndrome or some other reason for people to stare at them and talk about them? Are you aware of the fact that no matter who/what/where you are there is bullying and allsorts all around us that everyone endures at some stage in their life?
I think its about time that people opened their eyes and stopped playing the "you know what" card every time someone gets a hard time in the public eye. Good grief.

if they think their being bullied why do so many of them come over here to live . they should weigh up their options : live here in relative peace without fear of your country being ruled by a mad dictator have a social welfare system which seems to benifit them more than it benifits the actual british . or live in a country where all the people seem to do is sit around all day and play with rats and scour markets and live in shanty towns or houses that look like they were built around the time of moses then they go and bath in a river with another million people ( very hygenic) and travel in trains like a load of cattle . i'm not racist i'm all for everyone having a fair deal but i'm sick of asians crying racism . if they really think british are racist why dont they leave the country . i really dont see how so many of them think we're racist after all we love their restaurants we shop in their shops we ride in their taxi's and we put roofs over their heads .

White people get abused too. I went to Jamaica and was spat at swore at. How many times has the kid with ginger hair been taunted. No Its not nice and hopefully the bb thing is a lesson to everyone

Well, yeh, I do know what you mean.
I have never thought much of it until a family from Pakistan came to live near me. We had a son the same age and got friendly.
I took the wife shopping a few times and was horrified at the 'looks', and just sheer rudeness towards her by people. She was very dignified when I just wanted to cringe and feel like I should apologise for the way people were behaving.

If the Asians are patronising and snooty like Shilpa Shetty then they aren't going to make many friends by their attitude are they ??? Its got nothing to do with race or religion and everything to do with attitude !!!!!!!!!!
Edit : What hard work has she done EXACTLY ?? Appeared in few Indian films that we have no knowledge of - that DOESNT make her special in my eyes. Dont forget she is an 'Actress' and shes doing a fine job of acting the 'Victim' in all of this !!!!!!!!!
