Hi Reeta,
I'm Andrew from Mumbai. I'm glad to welcome u to Mumbai !! sorry our mumbai. OK as per Ur question I'm giving u some web links about our city. This links will be much usefull for u.
Log on to www.mumbainet.com/ to know about our city.
Log on to www.mumbaisuburbs.com/call-center/ to know about Call centre in Mumbai.
Log on to www.aboutmumbai.com/Transport.asp to know about the Transportation in mumbai.
Finally Reeta, the vegetables and other food items are not much difference than Chennai. The Accommodation depends on the concern area and types of house or flats. Mumbai is 24 hour lightning place therefore no need to worry, the city is safe although at night but be aware of theft. And the best place to shop is from 'BigBazar' located in most of the stations.
OK then have a nice day its bye from Andrew.

As regards your main question the answer is that Mumbai is NOT for sale
If you plan to rent a house then you could get affordable flats in Navi Mumbai at places such as Nerul, Seawoods and Kharghar
Every place in the city is the best place for shopping
In Mumbai the maximum call centres are at:
1. Hiranandani Business Park, Powai
2. Andheri
3. Nariman Point
It is the safest city in the world at all times
The best means of transportation are the local trains on Harbour lines

Please dont worry about relocating to Mumbai. Yes rent rates are shooting up in the recent few years, but you can still manage. Most of the call center staffs have a sharing accomodation where 2 or 3 or 4 people decide to rent an apartment and share the rent burden, so look out for that. You will find rents from Rs.5000 to Rs.10000/- in Goregan - Malad (W) where most of the call centers are located. All the amenities are available right round you. It is more advisable to stay around your work place, because employers prefer hiring from around the place and it will be better for you to save on commuting time. Also employers of call centers provide pick up and drop facility.
For food you have local ladies supplying dabbas so you can save on the cooking part of it. The city is safe for girls, however, you need to keep your eyes and ears open for your own safety. If you decide to settle in Malad (W) - try getting accomodation in Malad (W) around Lower Kharodi areas, because rent is more cheaper than around the call center hubs itself. Any more information you can mail me.

The best thing about Mumbai is that you can live according to your earnings .If you can bear with the long hours of commuting you can find affordable houses in new Bombay and Borivali, virar. The proper method would be to zero in on possible areas where reputed call centres are located .Check they are providing pick up facility for attending duty, and then check for safe and suitable accommodation.Reputed call centres will even guide you.For daily requirements of vegetables and groceries you can get them at reasonable rates from super markets or your near by Mandi.Mumbai is very cheap for transportation if you get a feel of suburban train and BEST buses. As for safety ,it is one of the safest Metros in India. In short it is everybodys city.

Apply for job from your hometown and only when you get the call letter you should venture into mumbai. The rents are somewhat high, but manageable with a call center job. Food and vegetable are cheap if you buy from super markets, malls like big bazaar, d mart, haiko etc.It is a good place to shop. Call centers are just coming up at borivali (west), it should be cheap and peaceful to stay there. Buses and Trains are quite cheap. In the suburbs, three wheelers are reasonable and convenient.
The city is very safe for a girl at night.
