Shilpa - bullied or racially abused? Shilpa was told by Jermaine that what was going on was racism - now she seems to think so too - despite Cleo insisting to her that it isn't. Is what has happened to her racism or "just" bullying (and not actually racism)? What do you think?

What do they have to do to make people think its racist, put a turban on call her a p*** and punch her in the face whilst singing Hari Krishna? It is racist bullying end of. Go back to your slums, mimicking her accent, calling her the indian, saying that Indian people are slim because of undercooked chicken and they are ill, telling her to go home?? What more do some of you want?

It is disgraceful behavior and people that defend them do so out of their own reasons. It is racist bullying.

Jade isn’t racist, she is just angry at Shilpa because she blames her for her mother downfall.

She believes the public wanted her mom out because of all the arguments she was having with Shilpa, and they also blame Shilpa for Carol demise. On several occasions, Jade tried to be friendly towards Shilpa, but nothing bared fruit. The people in there who are racist are Danielle and Jo, they say nasty things about the Shilpa, and all the racist attitudes come from them.

Danielle is very manipulative, she tries to make conversation with Shilpa and then she reports back to Jade and Jo, making the conversation sound worse than it was. The media is despicable, they hate the way that Jade got famous and they are trying to stick all kind of mud on her. I challenge anyone to find one racist comment, mockery or attitude that Jade had towards Shilpa. I am hoping Shilpa win, but I think Jade is getting the blame for the other two behaviour it should be on Danielle and Jo

i think its both and a lot of it stems down to sheer jealousy shilpa is a very bonny girl with a nice personality while the rest are nothing special to look at. Jade has also had a lot of surgery and it still hasn't made an improvement and she is a nobody. at least shilpa has ian(h), jermaine, dirk and cleo as friends otherwise it would be a lonely place for her.

I watched it last night for the first time to see what all the fuss is about and I was asbolutely disgusted. Prior to that I assumed it was political correctness gone mad. I am a white british woman, from Liverpool. That Shilpa girl is beautiful, intelligent, and very elegant. The other 3 in particular Jade and the scouse girl and mere scum. They lack all of the above attriubutes. Its almost like a class war rather than racism. They cant handle seeing a beautiful woman who is from a poor country who is so elgant and successful and in possessing them attributes she puts them to shame. She is winding them up because she is effortlessly stealing all the limelight that theywil be used to. Women hate nothing more than a threat to them, its blindingly obvious. I could go on forevor with my disgust for them girls, i say girls because theyre not women, certainly not ladies. Jade is a mother for gods sake and listen to the language on her. I wont waste anymore energy on her!

It's not racism. Racism can be defined as somebody being bullied or discriminated against solely because of his/her race. In this case, Jade hates her not because she's indian but because she thinks that the indian girl is a 'stuck up cow'. That's nothing to do with her race. Honestly. I've had this problem before (I'm white but I'm from one of the European countries so I do have a different accent and coming from a slightly different culture). I've been told several times by bullies to 'go home' and I'm being called by my nationality rather than my name. This is not because people have something against my nationality, this is just simply not getting on with me. I'm sure if I was Welsh, they would call me 'welsh cun.t' or something like that. Would that be racist? Or does racism only work if it's Brits against anybody else who is not a Brit/white/christian/European? I don't know. But all I can say that I don't believe that Jade would hate a person just because of his/her race. I'm sure if Shilpa was just as much of a chav as she is then they'd get on like a house on fire and they could be best buddies. So if Jade was directing the same bullying towards the other white girls, what would they label that action? You can't be racist against your own race and nationality (although I have experienced in the UK that Londoners hate the Northerners and vice versa - which I don't really understand). Anyway, I really belive that it is just a case of plain old bullying rather than racism.

Firstly, let me say that I don't watch the programme. I can only comment on that which I have seen on the news.
However, it would seem to me that Jade Goody has shown herself to be an ignorant, bigoted, bully. On the other hand, Shilpa has proved herself to be the exact opposite and has behaved with grace and dignity.
Perhaps when the programme is finished, Jade Goody could be locked up in the house and somebody could throw away the key.
She makes me embarrassed to be British.

I didn't think it was racial at first, but after Danielle said "she should F off home" may be it is.

This is on TV, and young people at school are going to be watching this - thinking its alright to bully or racial abuse another student becz of there culture or race. I cannot believe that they air this. Knowing what would happen just for rating.

The head of Channel 4, Luke Johnson, was on the Today programme today and refused to comment at all and just referred the questioner to Channel 4's press release. How not to handle the media and how not to handle a crisis. Arrogant fool!

I think it's racist behaviour. Calling someone 'the Indian' is obviously racist behaviour. They are disgusting people and the fact they have caused such an outcry and international calls of condemnation is reason enough for them to banned from the airwaves forever. they are scum and I despise them (I already did before the show started)
