I'm sure that I would. I think most of us that are saying they don't know,, if were put into that situation, if we have any compassion at all, it would be instintive, to help.

It depends upon the situation.
I would have to know the person and/or have to have a reasonable chance of success in saving that person and not losing my own life. If it was a loved one I would give up my own life willingly to save the loved one.
If I knew someone to be despicable, such as a pedophile, I would watch them die with a smile on my face.
If I was an EMT, policeman, or firefighter I would risk my life because that would be part of my job.
I am a trained medical professional and I have had to participate in Codes and whatnot, however, I am not an EMT or whatnot so my life was not in danger.

Yes, I probably would but who is to say you really would help someone who needing rescuing as you may panic or freeze or on the other hand the adrenaline might be pumping through you like god knows what and you may just get right in there to help save the person. That's my theory anyway!

I'm pretty sure that I'd only be able to do that if the other person were a loved-one (family member or close friend), and hope that I wouldn't panic and be unable to help.
I admire the fact that police, firefighters, and military people are always ready to do this--but I could never have their strength--I don't think.

Unless the person was a horrible human being.. like a murderer or child molester, then yes.. I probably would. I can't really explain why, I suppose I'm just compassionate.

yes, to help others in time of need is our duty. it becomes more important when it comes to saving of a human life. if we dont' have feelings of pleasure and pain of other fellow human being, we could have been a beast.
