Political oppression causes poverty and disenfranchisement, poverty and disenfranchisement lead to terrorism!

I disagree with the above. While the backers and leaders of terrorists are generally affluent people who have the means to purchase weaponry, the actual suicide bombers are often the very poor. Wrt terrorism in India a long time ago, (many of) the people who blow themselves out turned out to have no idealogical stake, and are doing it simply because they are promised money for their starving families.
W.r.t today, poverty directly influence a person's educational level. This in turn increases his or her vulnerability to radical ideas and beliefs and make them targets for potential recruitment for certain people. Also, poverty makes a person have less hope for the future, turning him or her to crime, terrorism and other desperate acts. It is interesting to see that Singapore is one of the few countries that have been very successful at keeping terrorism at bay. Some may argue that it is due to religious harmony and size of the island. However, I believe that none of these could be achieved without economic wealth and education.

Neither this is not caused by surroundings as some might try to make you think terrorism is cased and effected by ideology...
Poverty is an unfortunate side effect of war and terrorism which can be equated to stupidity and ignorance...

Poverty does not cause terrorism. Terrorism costs too much.
