I have a 19 month old son and an 8 month old daughter so there are only 11 months between my two. Although it is extremely tiring, hard work and some times stressful, I think they will grow up to be really close. Also on the plus side, I never had to deal with the jealousy thing, all my nappy changing will be finished pretty quickly, as will the sleepless nights and best of all, both of them start school at the same time so not only will they have eachothers support, I will have some time to myself......at last!! I am 21 by the way.

I think that no one can answer this question except you and your husband/partner. There are many factors...

1) mental stability
2) physical stability
3) financial stability
4) your personality
5) financial stability
6) your first child's personality
7) financial stability
8) what type of birth you had the first time
9) your age
10) financial stability

DID I MENTION FINANCIAL STABILITY???

Seriously though, for me It would be 2 1/2 to 3 years in-between...It gives the fist child a chance to be mommy's baby, give me a chance to know the baby, gives the family time to adjust to the first addition before throwing a curve ball. It wouldn't be too close or to far apart. By the time the first baby is 3 and maybe starting preschool, it would give you the same quality time with your second baby. The most important thing above all the rest is really mental stability....some woman have done atrocious things to their babies because they weren't mentally ready.

I really dont think that there is any ideal spacing when God wants it to happen it will. I have 4 children 16, 12, 7 and 20 months and I wouldnt have done it any other way.

I think about 2 years because it would be an easier birth then say 3-5 years. My daughters are 19 months apart and I love the fact that when my youngest gets old enough to play she will always have her sister that won't be that far from her age.

Medically, a mother's body requires at least 18 months between pregnancies to recover so that the next baby gets enough nutrients. That makes it a minimum gap of 2 years and 3 months.

To me, one has to be out of diapers before having another.

3-4 years so you can get back on your feet. I have a 4 & 2 year old and I really wish we had waited longer

i have 3 years between my 2 kids its gr8 my 3 year old is more independant, toilet, eating drinking and amusing himself if needed to, he also understands things like its babys time for a bottle, or bath or that shes upset, so it helps me alot to not have 2 small ones demanding things at the same time, this also means they will still grow up together close enough to be friends and get along.
