Can I use a gamepad for doom 3 on pc?

I just got doom 3 and a Logitec wireless gamepad to play doom on my PC, but apperantly doom (a game with all high standers) doesn't seem to have an option for it. Or am I missing something?

You can change the config file to allow you to use a gamepad. The burning question, why would you want to use a gamepad over a mouse and keyboard? KB&M is WAAAAYYY better for First Person Shooters, that's why developers usually don't bothering configuring joypads for pc games.

I think that you can, but it's very hard to do it.
