Business administration is just what it sounds like, the art and science of running a business. The Master's degree is a postgraduate degree (the bachelor's degree is normally a prerequisite), usually between one and three years long (the traditional full-time MBA takes two years). The Master's in Business Administration is thus a relatively short graduate or professional degree program in which one learns about running a business. It may be contrasted to Master of Science programs in some business subjects, which are often more focused on a single discipline (such as finance or marketing) and which generally require a traditional thesis (some schools require a thesis for the MBA, but many do not), or to the Ph.D. in Business, which is a research degree, generally intended to train faculty, rather than business practitioners.
