I'm applying for a Front-End Web Developer position in a certain company and I was wondering if I should add a picture in my resume. I'm living in the Philippines by the way (just to give you an idea where I am trying to get a job).

You NEVER put a picture on a resume. Keep your resume professional and to the point. Are you sure they're not giving you the job based on race? That is against the law. I'm not saying it can't or doesn't happen. I'm just wondering if that is the problem since it keeps happening to you. Are you dressing appropriately for the interview? Do you show up on time? Is your cell phone off? Do you act interested? If it was me, I wouldn't care if you were purple. I'd want the person that could handle the position and would make a pleasant coworker. If you have a friend or family member that is in a manager position and has done interviews ask them if they would do a mock interview with you. This would be a good way to see if there is something you may be doing or not doing (and not realize it) to hurt your chances. Good luck!

This is a definite no-no in the career world. Not only will employers feel you don't know what you're doing in creating your resume, you're also giving them an opportunity to judge you based on your appearance (suppose you have red hair, and the first person who glances at your resume hates redheads, your resume goes right into the round file (trash can) because of this). As unfair as that might be, there's no practical, real reason to include your picture in your resume. The purpose of the resume is to get the interview, and this is where they will meet you in person and see how you look - they shouldn't know before that.

No. It is consider unprofessional.
And here in the states if I recall correctly...illegal. Potential employers can discriminate based on something they might dislike.

Don't know what the standard is in the Philippines but I recommend not to include a photo.

Good luck

a lot of companies require pictures on resumes
and it's more formal and professional that way (in the philippines), contrary to what other people have said.. (your picture has to be formal too of course..)
appearance IS important to your employers...
so looking decent is a great big bonus!
(take note: not ugly nor beautiful.. just DECENT=formal/professional looking)
besides! they're gonna ask for id pictures from you after employment anyways... so it's no hassle..
good luck! :D

No! If I received a resume with a picture, I would throw it away without even looking at the qualifications. I think that is totally unprofessional and shows that you think your work cannot speak for itself.

No, I don't think that's necessary. Only if they specifically ask for a picture should you do that. Good luck.

Only if you are pleasing to look at. That may sound harsh but people can be very unkind.
