Well, I know that if I had school/homework, I would much rather do it on the bus than after I get home. If the ride is too bumpy I understand you might not want to do it there but there is always the reading you could do.
Wanna be cool? Get some language CD's from the library and start learning French, or German, or some other language of your choice. You would be amazed how much you can learn just by listening to what the language should sound like.

Do homework? Read? Get to know the person beside you? Daydream? Better yet, take a nap and dream? Simply chill?

Try to make friends with the people sitting around you, or else bring along your mp3 or ipod so that the music will keep you occupied..
