Because he wants ratings and the media thrives on it.

But Simon Cowell is funny though. If you would just listen to those terrible singers that think they can sing, and make horrible fools of themselves, would you off them too?

Apparently so.

Besides, these terrible singers know they are terrible. It's because their "friends" and "families" can see them on television, which is all a publicity stunt. They are saying "Look at me! Look...at...me!!"

If you had to deal with thousands of people all day, where about 3/4 of them are only there for their 15mins of fame, that would push me to tell these people the "truth" too.
I don't blame him at all. He does know what hes talking about almost all the time.

Alot of it is because the television audience expects it of him, it is one of the things that has made the show so popular, people love to hate Simon, also because most of what he says is true, but most people are to polite to say it.

Yes...cause there are just too many freaks in the initial stages.
If you watch carefully, he has 30% good comments in the later stages.

The truth usually does hurt. In some cases I think he has been exceptionally kind.

Justified? No. However, it makes for higher ratings for the network so I guess he justifies their end.

Maybe hie wasn't loved enough when he was little, so he grew up with a bad/harsh attitude towards people... I don't know, that's my guess.

Or maybe he's just TOO honest.

because thats his job. thats what he gets paid for. and thats what keeps the ratings up. If they dont want to get made fun of they shouldnt take the chance.
