Here's the thing...yes I would love to see a playoff format to crown a "true" champion. However...the benefit of the BCS Bowl system is the fact that it creates some great matchups for bowl week. The Fiesta Bowl is example #1!! Great game!!! Unreal!!!

Anyways....the most logical solution I've heard so far is to extend the season one more game AFTER the BCS bowls have been played which would pit the two top teams following those games. The only problem is that, in that case, you know there will still be debate as to which of the four BCS game winners should play for the title....AND...if you switch entirely to a playoff format...you miss out on a lot of the great matchups and games. Even the New Mexico Bowl was fun to watch due to the equal level of competition.
If I were asked to provide a solution that was in the best interest of college football AND its fans...I suppose I would suggest that all teams play twelve games in the regular season...then have your bowl season as usual....THEN take either the top 8 teams and have a playoff format with them (which is 3 wks worth of games) to crown a champ, or take the top 6 with the top two seeds after bowl season getting a bye in the first wk of the playoffs...much like the NFL playoff brackets....
There really is no clear-cut solution to all the problems that are presented by the BCS....but one thing is clear....
IT STINKS!!! HA HA!!

the ncaa cant do something to the BCS format untill 2011 even as the present contracts are up. the colleges are not any further making a 'ton of money' from the bowl video games. the real funds and the total reason cities host bowl video games is the tourism funds. why else do human beings go back and forth to charlotte, nc the in basic terms right week of december till there's a bowl interest the major sticking factor is the Rose Bowl. the Rose bowl easily needs no longer something to do with the BCS in the experience that that they had their way and the Rose Bowl has the percent10 and the vast ten perpetually in contracts. i imagine with the present BCS call interest turns into an and a million interest or there'll be a 4 team play-off. that could want to easily settle each thing infrequently is the no 5 team somewhat a meriting nat call contender. maximum years its in common words 2 or 3 reliable call contenders. i accept as true with the dude below the amazing thing about college football is the time-honored season and each interest mattering. do no longer change the present gadget too a lot no more effective than 4 communities interior the nat call play-offs tourney

The BCS is stupid for standing alone. If the BCS were used to create a playoff, everybody wins!

I would. Funny thing is, Wisconsin, ranked 4th before the bowl games, ended up being the top team in the Big Ten. BCS is a joke.

Um, Yeah, of course a playoff would be better. I'd love to see a playoff, it would make the season much more interesting, and it's already great!

I would rather see a playoff myself, but a lot of vested interests prefer the BCS.

yes because it doesn't allow underdogs to play for the national championship.

just like the steelers did in the NFL in 2005 when they went on the road for every game and won it all in detriot in the superbowl
