If you were to look at the data you would find many of the richest people in the US have built their wealth by either running a business they founded or through real estate. The key is you can create vast wealth only when you can leverage your time and your capital through others or through real estate.

As to picking a major. People who succeed in real estate come from many different backgrounds. There is no specific major that you need to choose. Being good with basic math and dealing with people does help. Even the legal aspects of real estate are not that complex. Hence I would not say that you have to be too specific in picking a major. Best is to pick a major where you will be happy and from which you can earn an income. How you then launch a real estate career can be decided after you graduate.

Take a look at the website below. There is a lot of free and useful information concerning real estate investing there.

I dont think you need a Major to sell real estate. I got my license last summer and all I had to do was take a 20 hour course and a state test. Wasn't worth it, havent sold a thing.

What I appreciate the most is, I dont have to have a diploma/ged. The instructor was talking more money in a couple years than I would have thought possible. But like anything else, you get what you put into it. GOD BLESS in whatever you choose.
