I met her through yahoo answers in september maybe (I was asking about a girl or something). We got to chatting and have helped eachother through many issues (my depression and shyness, her shyness and insecurities). We both have told eachother things that are our deepest secrets (the issues in the previous sentence) that not even our families know about.

I don't have any good friends that I know in person. There's some people I hang out with between classes (I'm 20 in college) but we never do anything out of school.

It's not weird because sometimes, especially for shy people, it is easier to talk when you arent looking right at someone. You've been supportive of each other and that cant be a bad thing. Friends are hard to find these days.

Well College is kind of hard to make friends because of schedules being so different but you should join an organization and make some real friends that you'll be able to and talk with and have fun with. You can't go out for coffee with the girl you're talking to on a messenger. It's not wrong but you should try finding real life friends.

Well it happens in life though... My best friend is a guy whom i met on a local chat room. It only took us a few months to click as good friends and exhange numbers to talk to. We started to send bday gifts via post, shared our secrets, hang on the phone till wee hours and became such good friends. He stays like 40 mins away from me and the best part we never met at all for at least 3 yrs or so until recently. So it happens.. Life is sooo damn unpredictable.

I think in today's day and age and given the busy schedule of college that the relationship you have with that person is fine. With millions of people on the Internet you have the opportunity to find someone out there just like you.

It's not weird to me! I think that the reason that this happens to you is that we always talk to a stranger more freely than to our acquaintances or friends! You don't know her and you don't have to look her in the eyes! This gives you the freedom to tell whatever you want! You also happened to find a girl that matches your expectations of what friendship means!

No, it is not weird. Sometime the best of friends can be people that you haven't even met. If you feel that you can talk to her easily then that is cool. I am happy for you.
