what is the reason for no snow in NYS or much of the country this year? it still seems really cold though, unfortunately.....does this pattern have to do with global warming,

and does it mean that spring and warm weather will come sooner, or only that there will be no snow and it will be cold still till may

You obviously don't live in Upstate New York.
I don't know where you are getting your information from.
It's snowing! There is no predicting the weather. It once snowed in July in Upstate New York many years ago. Wild, huh...

I don't know what you are talking about with the no snow in much of the country...come to Colorado where all the major interstates got closed right after Christmas stranding hundreds of holiday travelers...because of snow. We've had 2 major blizzards and several other snowstorms. The southeat part of the state had 30 foot snow drifts in some places! It has snowed every weekend for the last 2 weekends and is going to snow again this weekend....you want snow, you can have some of mine because I am calf deep in it and ready to thaw out already!!

Ok, so now it is snowing hard in New Mexico (the governor has called a state of emergency), icing in Texas causing the roads to close and snowing in Southern California!!! I guess we are getting all your snow...I hardly think it is a result of global warming, as it would make more sense that the southernly states would not be getting any kind of cold weather, while you would be getting less than normal. The worrld and it's weather is a very peculiar thing...historically it has gone through perods of extreme weather, it's just that now we are trying to be scientific about it and give it a label. I think the earth just natuarlly cycles itself, which if you look into weather history (going back to ancient times) and anthropology you will see this has happened before, and then the earth made another shift to something else.

Either way, enjoy the warmer weather. Sure wish I was having it because I am fed up with the subzero cold and snow!!!

Huh? Where are you?
The streets of upstate New York are filled with snow.
It's true that it had been delayed, but not anymore.
