Yes, yes he is.

The only other player who could be considered as such is Gilbert Arenas. But the debate there is that Gilbert is more of a scoring PG whereas Nash is a more traditional PG. The evidence in favor of Nash is in the team records - Phoenix as of 1/18 is 30-8 and Washington is 22-16.

He is also averaging 19.6 ppg, 11.4 apg, and shooting a phenomenal 53.2% from the field.

Gilbert, although averaging a crazy 29.9 ppg, is only dishing out 6.2 apg while shooting a very average 43.1% from the field.

If you ask around the league, everyone will tell you Nash is the best PG and has been for the past three years. The 2 MVPs can attest to that.

The other top PGs to consider are:

Jason Kidd
Baron Davis
Chauncey Billups
Chris Paul

I would cap it off after those four. Iverson and Wade are SGs, which is why they don't appear on this list.

But, in short, yes Steve Nash is the best PG hands down.

He's the best passing point gaurd and leads the league in assists. However, it's hard to say who the best point gaurd is. Arenas scores more and gets way more steals, so is he better? Nash gets way more assts and shoots an awesome % for a point gaurd, so is he the best? It depends on what you look at...stls, points, assts, etc.

There is no doubt in my mind that Steve Nash is currently the best point guard in all of basketball,

Yes because he can put up over 20 assists in a night and score only 6 points and the Suns still win. That shows even when he has a bad night shooting he can still be a MVP.

Previous poster does not know what he is talking about (bad attitude?)

Did you get rejected by him for an autograph?

Nash hands down. Some could argue Kidd and maybe the odd other player.

no doubt about it he is one of the few point guards who have figured out that there job is passing and let their teammates do all of the scoring what is remarkable to me is that he averages 11 rebounds and 19 points per game, it could be so much more if his team wasn't blowing out every team in the fourth quarter

I wouldnt say "the best" because there is no "the best" player in basketball, maybe his passing skill is the best, but it still cant make him the best PG
well, it's just my opinion

It is a toss-up, but the best all around point guard is Luke Ridnour. Well, they may be equal on ability and performance, but Nash's bad attitude puts him behind Ridnour.

No doubt. He makes everyone better. He can score, pass, and the set up plays like nobody else.
Nobody really plays defense in that league and his position doesn't really call for it anyway.

In terms of spreading the ball, controlling the game, and making his teammates better, then yes, he is the best right now.
