15 or so answers and no one has managed to mention that the moon's current phase is dark. That means it's far side (relative to Earth) is illuminated. It's near conjunction with the sun. That means it's currently in the sky during the day, but since it's Earth-facing side is not illuminated, we can't see it anyway. It's sometimes called New Moon. The moon still exists. Pollution isn't blocking the view. It's just not up tonight.

Take a look in the west after sunset on Saturday Jan 20 and you'll see a beautiful waxing crescent moon sitting right next to Venus.

obviously, how could you even have a doubt about it. I am pretty sure that u dont see the night sky at all. are u sure u are talking about the earths moon. Because the white ball that i see every night is a moon, not an illusion, alright. But if you're STILL not satisfied, try surfing on NASA website or ask someone whos in this field.they might help u out

You certainly would not think so since no one seems to look up any longer.
some neighbourhood guys once told me this man must be weird .they Say they saw him actually looking up at night while standing in his back yard ,looking up like maybe he is expecting something.?? yes he must have been up to no good. looking up like that.
yep. That mans got to be strange.
theres no moon to look at.if thats what he was looking for. whats wrong with that man?
I don't think theres any stars left .My grandmother told me the stars were much brighter when she was a child. so I am sure they have just faded away.

so. No .sorry . no moon.

I think maybe I do somewhat remember seeing it once though as a child.,but It must be a goner by now.don't you think?with all the pollution and space stuff .rockets shooting off all the time.all that stuff they leave up there, floating around must have gone and done it in,that poor ole moon...Do you think anyone much has noticed that its gone?

It is there still!
If it wasn't we would see the consequences:
People getting mad, ocean currents change, the tides get out of control (or cease all together), meteorites would increase, earth spin and orbit would change,...
What the moon does good to us, quite a lot depends on this little bugger!
