My reason for thinking this is because yesterday I watched the D.A.'s and sheriff's press conference wherein they announced a second charge against Michael Devlin and kept quiet on some pretty heavy questions the media were asking. I know this is not unusual, as they don't want to hurt the case by making something public, but it really led me to think a couple things. Firstly, they refused to answer if Shawn had been sexually abused. They also wouldn't comment on whether he had ever tried to escape... Then they immediately stressed that Shawn had not been a willing participant in his kidnapping. This all kind of makes me believe that he probably did try to run away at some point, I mean especially if he was being abused. All the no comments appeared really to be yeses in disguise. At any rate, I hope he can eventually heal and move on with this life after they put this pedo freak away forever.

I missed the Oprah interview today (which I wasn't even aware of). I understand that Shawn said he was understandably too terrified to run. Does anyone know where I can find the interview? I already checked Youtube.

I don't think he ever tried to run, he was too brainwashed by this freak. It's very sad to think of what he went through for the 4½ years, but it's great to know he is home. And who knows if he is going to want to even talk about anything that went on during that time, we'll have to wait and see what he is comfortable in saying.

He might have tried when he was originally kidnapped but later probably stopped trying. What suprises me is as he grew older and more mature he did not realize that if he called the cops that they would get that fat load and put him behind bars. I get the feeling Hornbeck started to enjoy the lifestyle ie. no school, screw off all day play video games. Maybe he had trouble at home who knows and did not want to go back.

It has already been confirmed that Devlin threatened to kill Shawn and his family if Shawn ever tried to escape. The poor kid probably also suffers from Stockholm Syndrom as well.

Well this guy was working two jobs while leaving Shawn at home in his apartment? Seems to me if you are really motivated you can break out of an apartment in 4 years time even if you were handcuffed or at least alert someone to your presence.

Ok people one more time.If you were kidnapped and molested and theatened You might want to go home but imagine the dread of having to exsplain it all to your family.I mean when a woman is raped she is traumatised feels dirty ashamed and depressed yet people dont seem to want to give a boy this same sympathy they give to a female victim.Get real he was 11 years old when this started. Just a young boy we are talking little league here. Who wants to go through what this kid went through?Sorry some of these answers make me angry. Give the kid a break.
