How do you solve the following exponential function?

3^(x+1) + 3^x = 36

3^(x + 1) + 3^x = 36
3*3^x + 3^x = 36
4*3^x = 36
3^x = 9
x = 2

3^x . 3 + 3^x = 36
3^x ( 3+1) = 36
3^x = 9 = 3 ^2
x = 2
