She's 8 1/2 months, that's just fine. The baby will be perfectly normal. He'll probably weigh around 6 1/2 pounds which is normal too. He'll be considered full term and not a premee which is anytime before 37 weeks. Pregnancies are counted in weeks. 40 weeks is what they call 9 months.
Try calling the hospital and asking for labor and delivery. They should be able to give you updates on your mom. Or take a taxi to the hospital if it's not too far away. Labor takes many hours, in the morning when someone can drive you to the hospital she might not of even had the baby yet.

The baby might be a little small, but in this day and age with the medical technology they have chances are he will be okay! There have been babies born at 6 months that survive. Granted I am no dr, but I would think your mom is far enough in her pregnancy that everything will be fine.
My daugher was born at 38 weeks and she weighed 8 pounds 8 oz and 21 inches! So a big baby for 2 weeks early!
I wish your mom the best of luck. Try to not worry, hopefully they'll call soon.

Sweety...it will be okay. At 8 months and 15 days the baby is considered full term. Baby's that stay inside the mother for at least 37 weeks are full term pregnancies. Congratulations on the new little brother or sister you will receive. I am not sure how old you are, but let me say that the baby's' health will not be factored on gestation at this point. (how long in the tummy). Hopefully your mother didn't smoke or drink and took good care of herself and saw the doctor often. Those are the most important things to ensure a healthy baby. Get some rest while you still can!

At 8 1/2 months (which is approx 38 weeks) everything should be fine. 40 weeks is what the due date is set at, but 37 weeks is considered full term. From week 37 to 40, the baby will generally just gain weight and length, but is already fully developed. It's not unusual at all for a baby to be born a little early or late. 38-42 weeks is the average.

Sounds like your mom is about 34 weeks pregnant? At this stage, the baby will be fine. He or she will have developed enough to have little or no problems. The concern may be with the developement of the baby's lungs, but doctors can give the baby steroids to develop the lungs faster.
This is not uncommon and all will be well!! Try to get some sleep, it will probably be a busy and exciting day for you tomorrow!

I artwork on the weekends & the govtwho in many cases works with me continuously pressures me on the in basic terms right minute (like a 1/2 hour earlier I go away) to stay for an hour more effective. She takes perpetually to count number my drawer after I get off & although if i do not consent to it I finally end up staying till 10:30 even as i became off at 10. She is conscious of completely properly that i breastfeed & i'll't in basic terms sit down round waiting even as my babe is hungry & my husband stands round waiting outdoors with him, & she counts sooooooo slow on purpose so I even ought to stay & take each of the orders even as she counts. Yea i understand i'll in basic terms go away even though it sucks I hate making enemies highly ones who can tell me what to do. also all the managers make a huge fuss after I tell them I even ought to take my spoil NOW!!! after like 5 hours of being there without spoil because i'm f*cking engorged & ought to pump. It would not seem to slot of their tiny brains that i might want to get contaminated & probable die if i do not take a dam spoil & pump. Or that my infant is hungry & I even ought to go away so i'll feed him. GOD !!!! >:(
