Nope. One is not considered gay due to the sexual activity, or lack there of. It is merely a sexual preference. Being gay does entail being attracted to the same sex, but not based on the action taken.
Which is good, because if what you thought were to be true, I would have been straight for the past 3 weeks. LOL Hope this helped.

It is both based on attraction and emotion for me.I can be emotionally attracted to a man but not necessarily need sex, though it helps, and I can be sexually attracted to a guy but not necessarily need emotion, though I prefer to have feelings for the guy I am with.
I think that for the average gay guy or lesbian woman, the attraction and emotion that they feel for the same sex is comparable in almost every way to that of persons with attraction and emotions for the opposite sex.The only difference is sexuality.

Nothing has to be sexual to be considered gay. The fact that one man wants another man in their life to love, or woman/woman. Is the definition. I don't know too many couples gay or straight that have a strong relationship and aren't having sex though, but as far as the definition goes, the sexual part is secondary.

I am married for 20 years and gay. I don't stay with my partner for the sex. Sex you can get anywhere. I am still attracted to him sexually and our relationship is monogamous...but that isn't what holds us together...I was really ill...almost died 2 years ago..and because of a lot of the drugs I had no (I repeat no) sex drive for almost 1 year...I never doubted my love for him..or he for me during this time. I am sexually attracted to men now all the time.
So the answer to your question is that I am as gay as you are straight...imagine how you would feel about your husband..and that's how I feel about mine.

That is a good question, and I've never really thought of it that way. I myself connect emotionally to women, and develop feelings for women pretty much exclusively, yet I am more physically attracted to men. I have no interest in being with a man though, so I consider myself to be gay even though the sexual aspect isn't quite as strong for me with women as men.

I consider myself gay because it's how I feel. I am attracted to members of both sexes, but predominantly of the same gender.
I do not base my sexuality on actions, past or present, but rather attractions...emotional as well as physical.

The term "gay" does have a couple different meanings, making it difficult to use. Some people say that "homosexual" refers to the orientation, and "gay" is more about the identity (I don't happen to agree with that). The fundies who try to "change" people tend to define "gay" as "actively having gay sex" (something they don't necessarily advertise, because they love to lead people to believe that they can change orientation. Which they can't.) Others say that "gay" just means who you're attracted to, and if you act on that is just called "acting on that", or... "dating". I tend to lean towards this; I don't stop being gay when I'm not with someone, y'know?

I dont know. I've been in a relationship with a female and never had any physical contact at all except to hold hands and kiss. While I was very much attracted to her I never had the desire to have sex.
