Delhi's population and traffic, which have jointly generated a lot of pollution and crime, keep increasing BECAUSE it is the Capital of India !
Make any other city as India's capital - and the same quantities, if not more, of population, traffic, crime and pollution, will get shifted there...
The Indians' lack of civic sense is to be blamed for Delhi's sorry plight - not its geographic locale !

Your question is Good..... but i feel the focus should not just be based on Delhi....

Also to others who are saying all this happens everywhere... should think about these issues more seriously.

I would say wat we are all trying to say or question is...... "Shouldn't Delhi be more secure and organised being a Capital of a Country?"

The crime rate is more in Delhi than in anyother part of the entire country. The crimes are not fully political ....... they range from rape - child abuse. This is due to lack of security which should be a priorty especially since its the capital of our country. And this is not the image we want to produce about our Capital to other countries. Also being a Catipal city means playing a ROLE MODEL for the entire country. Which eventually Delhi is failing in and putting up such a question.

And by just saying... since its a capital there will be pollution and traffic... does not justify it. A Capital city is supposed to seek measures to avoid all the above. If it cannot manage anything within its own limits... CAN THE CAPITAL RUN A COUNTRY???

Population... again... something that has to be brought under control with the right rules and regulations. With enough follow ups and documentations. Yes there will be a lot of follow up if they start now... but its never too late to start.

We as Indian have very few benifits and support from our own Government. But for which we have to give our support and contribute for a better living. Nothing comes without sacrifices.

Therefore, my point is... be it Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai, Mumbai, etc the Capital, the point is the work has to start in the Capital, it has to be a role model and set examples. Not examples such as the state with No.1 serial killer, rapist, irresponsible citizens etc. Th Capital has to stand up Proud... not with its head bent... which is its current situation.

Iam not proud of my Capital... it hasnt set a single example... which we as Indians can say proudly. But for sure "IAM A PROUD INDIAN".

The capital of India "New Delhi" is the same city where Anil Kumble made a world record of taking all 10 wickets in an inning in Test cricket. Also known for being the hometown of Virender Sehwag :)

I know a town in Gujarat, named Gondal. It is pollution free, with low population and no traffic and crime problems. Do you think we can make it the capital of India?

Delhi has all infrastructure required for a capital city. Hence it is the capital.

Every city has pollution, population and crime. And you know what, changing the capital of India will not magically cure corrupt politicians, make better roads or make the people law abiding, so change the things that need to be changed in this country, instead of breaking your head over something trivial
