its a 1984 honda xr250r but i have no clue on how 2 set the timing please help please thanx

2 stroke i think? your gonna have to either find an impact driver and open the lower case to get to the points or trigger system for the electronic ign. if its a 4 stroke, you can change advance at the (i think) left side of the head. adjust the cam to crank timing on the lower side. i wouldnt. 2 stroke should have a notch for alignment. lightly(very slight) retard. just make sure it dont break your leg when starting. mix a lil heavier on the oil and stay off the top end for distances or extended winding in low gear. it'll scare you when it hits the power band. 4 stroke you can go even further, but remember air cooled engines can be prone to detonation. bye bye piston.
